SEAN EWERT (Storytelling Instructor)
Current Offering: Next session begins February 1, 2022
"My goal is that the audience feels taken care of by the storyteller with an interesting personal story delivered with sincerity. The story should be crafted to feel like a gift is being given from the teller to the audience. Ultimately, I want my students to have fun and enjoy the connection with the audience by creating well-crafted personal narratives that they feel comfortable sharing."
TUTA Emeritus Member Sean made the jump from actor to storyteller after craving a more intimate dialogue with the audience. He initially struggled with the common feeling of "who would want to hear my story?" but soon realized that he did have a story to tell that could help someone. He focused on mental health and the perils of neglecting treatment. He found that telling the story of his mother's life in a simple, straightforward manner made a difference.
Sean has led his storytelling workshop in Chicago and Los Angeles, encouraging beginners to take the first step toward creating personal stories filled with humor, vulnerability, and honesty.
Sean tells his stories in Chicago and Los Angeles at hit shows, which include The Moth (storySLAM Winner "Nostalgia" Los Angeles 2021), USA Today Storytellers Project (Western/Sunbelt and National shows), This Much Is True, Flick Lit, Bike Winter Chicago, Story Club Chicago, Story Salon, The ReBoot, The Laugh Factory, and The Antidote. When Sean isn't on stage telling stories, he creates them with his partner John and rescue dog, Pilot.
